My name is Jason Churchill, MA and I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family therapist in Los Angeles, CA. I truly believe in the power of relationships. Our lives are built around how we engage and communicate with others and that's why I feel the most powerful relationship is the one we have with ourselves. However, the relationship with ourself is usually the one we tend to the least. This is especially true for individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ and individuals living with HIV. As someone with lived experience within these realms, I hope to provide a space where you feel seen and no worry about "explaining" aspects of your life and identity.
My goal is to help my clients develop healthy and affirming relationships within themselves so they can thrive. I bring an affirmative approach to my work to help individuals discover and affirm the strengths within their identity in order to live a truly authentic life.
I help clients map out past patterns and behaviors in order to identify areas in their lives that are affecting their mental health and then use them as roadmaps to find alternative coping mechanisms and skills.
I believe that my clients are the sole experts in their lives, but from time to time there may be problems that arise that they need help navigating. I feel that a trusting, safe and collaborative therapeutic environment encourages exploration of feelings and emotions which allows for personal growth and change.
I got my degree at Antioch University where I specialized in LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy. I trained at AIDS Project Los Angeles where I got to work as a mental health clinician with individuals living with HIV and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
I look forward to getting to know you.
